Arab Unified Document for Arab Child 1990
The Arab Unified Document for Arab Child
The Arab Unified Document of Arab Child was prepared by the Arab League, ACCD and UNICEF in May 1990 in order to be submitted to the World Summit Conference for Childhood. It revealed Arab commitment to promote children's welfare, in addition it is considered to be the basis of Arab contribution in drafting the World Declaration and its implementation plan on child's survival and development, and also the Arab Plan of Action for childhood care and development.
The first meeting of the Preparatory Committee to draft the Arab Unified Document of Arab Child was held at the headquarters of ACCD in May 1990. The Document tackled children's status in the Arab World. The next meeting was held at the headquarters of the Arab League in Tunisia in June 1990 to discuss the Document in the presence of ACCD, the Arab League, UNICEF and a number of experts. During the meeting, the Document was drafted and submitted to Arab governments and the United Nations Secretariat in New York.
To achieve the objectives stated in this Document, ACCD held a workshop on 13 September 1990. The workshop joined a group of experts in the field of health to find out methods to achieve the Document's health objectives. Moreover, ACCD's role covered several fields mentioned in the World Declaration and the Arab Plan as fields of priority in the last decade of the twentieth century.
